Sorry for the delay in writing but I've been too sick to even get out of bed and typing with one eye is kind of hard. Thanks to everyone for the messages, they really pick my spirits up.
Hey Ms. Lattanzio, I feel much better than when you saw me in the hospital, sorry I couldn't talk much.
Okay, everyone knows that I had a lump on my brain and I had to have surgery and radiation and chemo to get rid of it. And I have a fantastic team of doctors which took great care of me. That lump is gone and my scar is already almost healed. The radiation and chemo were tough but I made it through.
AND THEN... Another *#@*!! lump shows up around my right eye and nose! Yeah, you read right. I thought my eyelids were swelling because of the radiation but it turned out to be another lump probably part of the first lump that was hiding.
So, here we go again. The doctors said they have NEVER seen anything like this. I'm going to have my own chapter in the medical books.
I am now dealing with more radiation and more medicine than I've ever seen in my life. And my grandma must have me on every vitamin ever invented. She's got one for every part of my body, my immune system, my skin, my blood, even my intestines! They must be working because I'm stronger now. I can walk again, no more wheel chair.
Anyway, I'm hoping to come visit school soon if that's okay with Mrs. Freese. Huh? Huh? Is it? Can I? I'm working with the hospital teacher on the math books you sent and I have my writing journal with me and since my eye is open again, I'm reading again too.
Hello Lucia,
I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better. Thank God for all those vitamins that your grandma is feeding you. Is there anything in school you need that I could send you( books, textbooks, paper, etc.)? I think about you a lot and wish I could help in any way. Please let me know. Love, Mrs. Gross

Lucia,
Yes, of course you can visit the class, as long as it's okay with your doctors and family. We would love to see you and have a chance to visit with you!
That's great that you're working with the hospital teacher in the math book. I'm sending a whole bunch of work your way so you can stay caught up with us! The most important thing, though, is to get through all of this and get better so you can come join us. Stay strong!

Yay Lucia!! It was so good to hear your voice on the phone the other day. I'm sorry I couldn't visit you yesterday. I had to rush my dog, Carmie to the hospital. That's a whole other story I'll have to share with you. :) I will call you & grandma this week and figure out another good time to visit. I miss you & can't wait to see you!!
Love,
Ms. Lattanzio

Hi, Lucia-
Mrs. Gross gave me your web site address today so I am just writing to say hello and to see how you are feeling. If I had known about this, I would have written months ago. Actually, Mrs. Gross was absent for awhile because she had fallen once again and now her other leg got hurt. She was your first teacher at 158! I wish you had been in the school for the first grade because I could have been your first grade teacher. How is Grandma and Daddy? Tell them that I send my regards. I am STILL in the first grade and am teaching some very difficult children. Please write when you can-I would love to hear from you.
With Love,
Mrs. Valek

My sweet Lucia,
There are not enough words to describe how I feel about you. I am so happy to read and see that your strength is prevailing. You are so brave and beautiful. Your Grandma is a lucky woman that she gets to be by your side everyday. Shahrukh and Jahan send their love and miss you so much. Jahan loves Junie B as well and wants to catch up and start a book club. Shahrukh says when your ready - you can practice your karate moves on him. I told him don't underestimate the power of a girl - especially Lucia! We miss you so much and can't wait till you get home so we can plan a play date. Stand tall and continue be brave. Love, Shahrukh, Jahan and Catherine
BIG XoXo:s
